E-PL9 weekend street shooting
6

Some shots taken this weekend with the E-PL9.  The processing for tone, and fitting the DR window fo the sensor that Olympus is doing on this camera is really good and speaks well for what the upcoming EM5 MKIII will be capable of.

In fact, for some of the street work I do, I prefer an E-PL9 sized camera or smaller, with the tilt screen it has. I can only hope Olympus puts a 20 MP sensor plus e-shutter full options and PDAF in a future model.

All shots use Oly 25mm F1.8 prime...

before anyone asks on the shots missing the exif.  Those were simply resized down in an app that didn't record the exif data.  2-4 shots are jpegs out of camera.

Thanks for the look.

I like the speedier new Turbo Pic the EPL9 has. Wish it was still the 20 MP sensor with no AA in this body and the mode for silent shutter. I would be golden with that for the most part. Like the size and tilt-LCD. The IBIS allows for some tricks on this body.

I found that using my hand as an informal surface/anchor over other things and putting the camera over, the IBIS gets a bit extra performant in some practical situations (it's like carrying in that case a bit of a monopod but with IBIS to level the camera as you shake a bit).

But the thing that the EPL9 has surprised the most on the tech side is how Olympus characterized the sensor to keep great color with the DR window in place to avoid nasty highlight clips with the old sensor. This promises good things for the upcoming EM5 MKIII.

All that tech aside, the most important thing is to get out and shoot.

I was thinking of an E-PL9 too

Decided to go with the E-M10 III, but may still add the E-PL9 later as a more compact option. Would be perfect with the 20/1.7 or the zoom pancake lens.

Nice set.
