A590 IS Camera and SD Card Sizes
Jul 10, 2019
Being that money is extremely tight and I only use cameras for taking home pictures and sometimes videos, I'm still using the A590 IS. My issue is that I need new SD cards and I don't know what will work with this camera anymore.
The camera is from 2006 (?) and I don't even think SD cards had made it to 1 GB in size at that time. The manual recommends a 32 MB card. I've heard different things about the maximum size card to use (either 4 GB or 8 GB), but don't know what to believe. I couldn't find anything on Canon's website about this. Does anyone know anything about it?
I'm also not sure if class matters. Would class 10 be too much? I'd also be interested to know if a 4 GB or 8 GB microSD card in an adapter would work?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. I actually did not own this camera until recently. I had been borrowing it and was recently permitted to keep it for free. Had I known it would be given to me, I would've purchased more of the smaller sized SD cards a while back.
Oh, and if anyone has any battery recommendations for this camera please let me know. It takes 2 AA and eats through them. I often times can't find any batteries that have enough power to operate it. The rechargeables I have don't work with it very long or at all. I've been using the power adapter and that is a pain, especially when trying to take a quick picture of my pets doing something cute.
Now that I have high speed internet (just got it 3 weeks ago), I'm hoping I'll be able to research cameras so I can get one before Christmas.
