..Sorry to hear about your difficulty with the SX70 camera..

..for me, I have the P610, and also have the SX70 cameras..

..the SX70 is a fabulous camera, and produces well images..

..just go through the threads in this forum for SX70 photos..

..you will find & see many stunning pictures from the SX70..

..and as with any "new" camera, there is a "learning curve"..

..will need more time hands-on, then to get better & better..

..take a look through this thread below, can see examples..

https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4383353

..if you can, post some "test" pictures from your SX70..

..then we will be able to help you more by seeing..

..thanks for sharing & happy shooting..

..Cheers, John..

Shows you had the SX60.  Did you dispose of it?  Yes, some samples with EXIF would be advantageous to diagnose the problem.  There were a couple of things I didn't like about the 70 but the more I used it the better the output.  I have found that with all the SX's I've owned that they tend to blow out highlights unless carefully monitoring the settings.  Shooting lots, saving the best is normal for these P&S cameras.

Re: Canon SX70

As a prospective SX70 - this is only a "bump" so I don't lose track of the thread.

However, I do agree that with these small sensor cameras one has to be very careful about highlights, using some "negative exposure compensation". I also agree that there have been some superb images posted from the SX70 - as well as quite a few not-so-good ones.
