Two cameras I miss from Canon
1

1. G9 X Mark III with tilt screen.

2. A camera same as G1 X Mark III (APS-C), but without the EVF. (I don't like that hump.) Or maybe now that it seems like Canon can do it: A new G1 X Mark IV with pop-up EVF.

1. Adding the tilt screen would add thickness to the camera. At that point, might as well just grab the G7x with  faster lens with greater focal range.

2. Every G1x has changed form factor so you might be onto something.

1. Only a few mm. It will still be much much smaller and lighter than a G7 X ii. I will be the first in the line to buy it. It would be a very nice pocket camera (and much more useful with a tilt screen). (G7 X ii is too thick for my jeans pockets)

2. Yes. I would like a APS-C jacket pocket zoom camera a little less bulky than the G1 X iii. I would be happy with the exact same camera but without the EVF. I don’t understand why they have not already made this camera. G7 X II sells very well without an EVF.

If the G7X II sells well why go to the expense of making a G1X without an EVF which could bite in to G7x sales. The G9X with a thicker screen could also do that but then people may go elsewhere because they like the ultra thin profile which is the whole rationale behind the camera.

The range seems pretty well balanced and differentiated to me. With the G5X moving to a pop up EVF I think the G1X keeping the decent central EVF is even more important.

Yes, it might bite in to G7x sales, with the result of selling more expensive (and more profitable) cameras instead of cheaper ones. And the G5 X Mark II will, no doubt, bite a lot more in to G7x sales. So I don't see the problem.

The G9X with a thicker screen could also do that but then people may go elsewhere because they like the ultra thin profile which is the whole rationale behind the camera.

Nah. I don't think so. And the G9 X is not ultra thin at all. (look at smartphones) We are only talking about a few mm in one direction. Still a much smaller camera than G7 x II. It will just be an even better and more flexible and modern alternative for people who want a smaller 1" camera.

The range seems pretty well balanced and differentiated to me. With the G5X moving to a pop up EVF I think the G1X keeping the decent central EVF is even more important.

Good that you are satisfied with the range as it is.

I think it is good, but I am not satisfied. I think there is always room for improvements, so I am hoping the range will evolve. I think the G5 X Mark II is a very nice addition, but I'm also hoping for more.

So I think there is a market for a small(er) APS-C PowerShot. Just as there is (still) a market for a small 1" camera (G9X III?). I think, with harder and harder competition, that APS-C compacts will be even more relevant in the future.

Make the G1X M4, weather proof, with a faster and sharper lens, and all the connectivity options of the G7xM3 and put it into range finder style body.

The existing lens seems very good.

Faster lens = bigger/heavier camera. No thanks. The small size of the camera, is what makes it great.

Yes. That, too!

(I think it would be a fun camera to use, at least.)
