^^^ Mini Challenge - Sense of Place

New Mini Challenge - Sense of Place

Change up of the usual rules!

Within 24 hours capture 4 images that capture the essence of a place - your town, city, home, favourite building, beloved workshop, favourite place in the woods, a park bench, etc. Post the 4 images together, in one post, to be reviewed as a set.

2 Entries Max Per Person (8 images in 2 posts - each post should be separate series, a separate place)

Powershot camera(s) only. Lets see what you can do with your G9, G12, or SX, S??

(Any powershot camera is eligible, if you do not upload so the EXIF is visible, please note the camera(s) in the post)

Please try to post so that the EXIF is visible on DPR. This will speed up the review and allow everyone to see what you've done with a Powershot. If this is not possible please post date, time, camera information.

Capture your photos within 24 hours of starting, and all photos captured must have been taking from 1 July to 16 July.

Deadline: 16 July, Tuesday, Midnight, Eastern Time

PLEASE reply specifically to this posting with your images/entries. If you post an image in response to someone else’s image as a “sub-thread”, not only does it clutter up the thread and make image viewing difficult, but your image may get lost in the “mess”.

If you want people to give you constructive comments and criticism, ask for C&C.

Feel free to post photos “for exhibition only” if you want to share more than three or won’t be available to host the next challenge, just let us know that in your posts.

Try to post photos that share the EXIF information - if EXIF info is not available, a description of the PP application used, and maybe even some info on how you went about creating the image would be great!

Comment Posting Guidelines:

Feel free to post comments on the images. If you want to save bandwidth, remove the image from your reply so you just post text. Feel free to "like" photos by clicking the thumbs-up icon. The host will make up their own mind which images best fit their topic without being influenced by that.

Samples (from my archives, G7x mk2)

Series 1, Memories of my Father

Series 2, Camel's Hump

Canon PowerShot G12 Canon PowerShot G7 X Panasonic Lumix DC-G9

Rules Change-Up
1

This is a good idea, changing up the Mini-Challenge rules.

My take on it is that the rules change will make the Challenge, well, more of a challenge and thereby create more interest.

Just my two cents....

My Walk in the Park
1

And one of my favourite places to disappear to. They say a couple hours out in nature a week is good for you and this is where I generally go. The park is only a couple of blocks from where I live.

There'a walkway along the river. It's a walking/bicycle path. At this point I am under a road bridge. In the distance you can see another bridge.

As you can see looking back the other way.

This is the bridge you could see in the first photo in the distance. It's a rail bridge. I like to sit here and relax. There's a big rock to sit on which is where I am when I took this photo. It's a short walk away from the walking path and not many come down here.

And this is the scene looking the other direction from the bridge.

One of my favorite places

This is one of my favorite places, where I often go walking the dog. 5 minutes in the car and a 15 minutes walk in each direction.

All photos taken with PowerShot G9 X Mark II.

My dog loves this place, too.

Some nice ocean views.

A beautiful day. A little cold in the wind, but you can't see that on the photos. 😊

Some local flora with a view.

Hi Landov - please have a read of the challenge subject and rules changes for this installment - it is different than most. I’d love to see more of this place so that it can fit the challenge.

A little bump from the host. Inspired by this I've been carrying my G7x instead of the 6d.

I live in Port Washington, WI on the western shore of Lake Michigan. These four were taken this morning at sunrise.

Thanks, btrons, but there's almost another week left. I've seen some really good work on this forum in the past.
