srt100b

I appear to have bought a rare camera. I normally use a leica iiif and wanted a fully mechanical camera with less to go wrong.

I'm hoping someone can give me a bit of history. This camera has the serial no 8339195. It has no mirror lock, no self timer and no shutter or aperture settings in the viewfinder. It has the asa on the back not the film type holder. I'm guessing it's a rare change over. The camera works perfectly. The only model fitting this description should have a maximum of 1/500 of a second shutter speed. This has 1/1000. I'm sure someone has an idea of its history. It has no flash hotshoe just the holder. Basically it appears to be without features normal to this model.

Re: srt100b

The SR-T line of cameras were updated in 1975 .

Some features were dropped , some improvements made .

Your camera was made between 1975 and 1977 , i was a budget entry level body and a good number were made .

Compared to how many cameras were made by Minolta there aren't a high percentage on sale at any given time , so not necessarily a rare item .

Certainly with the low end bodies , if one developed a fault years down the line it is more likely a replacement was bought rather than paying for a repair .

A more expensive camera , then as know , is more likely to be taken for a repair if needed . Film or digital .

Hence even less working examples of some bodies .

.

Many thanks. It's about a basic a camera as you can get so not much to look up. I can keep it working for many years to come.

The xd7 a lovely little camera , I should use mine more often .

I tend to use either my X700 or X500 as it's handy at times to have TTL flash metering with these for close up and macro work , especially when using bellows .

My old tank of a backup is the SR-T 101 , it's one of the older ones so still has mirror lock up especially useful for astrophotography .

Still on perfect working order including the meter , not a lot to go wrong with them .

The Leica iiif is one I'm tempted to get , in the meantime I'm in happy with my Zorky 1 type 1d .

Mine works well and is consistent , with a nice set of lenses . With the collapseable lens it's very pocketable and nice to use .

The Leica should be much smoother .

Re: srt100b... a rare black body

Minolta made most (all?) SRT models in a black body finish... the SRT 100 in black was not as common as some others. This one is as close to mint as you'll find anywhere. No chips, no nicks. Seldom used before I bought it  around 2001. It does have a depth-of-field preview button but that's about it.

Re: srt100b... a rare black body

I know I'm late to the party, but did the SRT100 or SRT100B have through the lens, off the film, metering?  Just curious as this was a major selling point of the SRT101 when I bought it--my first SLR.  Only real issue was the focusing screen didn't "lock in" focus as most later cameras--including the A7000 that finally replaced it for me as my eyes aged.

All three had TTL metering, but it was not off-the-film. The meters looked at the light entering the viewing system in real time with the lens wide open before the film was exposed.

An updated metering system was introduced in later models and was known as Final Check metering because it metered again as the lens was stopping down, but it was not off-the-film either.

However, the X-700 did have the capability of off-the-film flash metering.

I think that the only Minolta camera to have Off The Film metering was the Minolta CLE.

Re: srt100b... a rare black body

hi there wash also a srt 100X the only differens with the srt 100b was that there wash only a  x for a flash and no FP connection.  The top model was in Europa the srt 303b in front of the mirror was a litle mirror that made it possible to read the diafragma in the finder also the  shutter times where  seen in the finder just like all the orther srt exept the srt 100x and 100b srtmcII was the same as 100x. all the models had different names in several part of the world.
