Still get excited about Samsung photos
1

I primarily use my Sony RX100 iii because of its pocket-ability. I try to use a better ILC when I feel like dealing with the extra bulk. That has been everything from NX300 to the NX1. I’ve had all the Samsung bodies and lenses, some of them multiple times, because of GAS! Right now I’m trying to like Canon M. It’s pretty good with the M5 and their lenses are mighty fine. Better build quality than Samsung non S lenses for sure.

BUT, when I look through my travel photos I’m always impressed wit my Samsung photos beyond anything else. I think it’s a combination of the dynamic range and the way Samsung handles color. I was just looking at some Samsung Mini photos from a Hawaii trip and my RX100 or M5 are unable to make equivalent photos out of camera.

I sure wish these guys kept making cameras!

What's GAS?

Well, Samsung never held back with sensor technology. This is one area where it really shines. Very good sensors in its cameras, and that's probably what shows the difference in quality you observe.

Kind regards,

GAS Stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome. A term used to admit that you enjoy acquiring new gear as much as using it. For those that suffer from it, we like to joke about it! I’ve settled down now, but have cycled through a lot of gear. What sticks around is what I really like and genuinely use.

Oh wow, thanks for clarifying that one...

...as it may have saved me some embarrassment with what I was going to answer to "GAS."  You see, had you not chimed in, I would have told him to first go to a supermarket and buy some Bush's beans, followed by eating the entire can.  Then later on, when that moment hits while you're on the couch, just let er rip to discover what that term meant.
