T6i slow to fire shot after pressing shutter

Just got this T6i and the shutter is about a second behind me pressing the shutter button to take the shot. I do now see the battey is REALLY low. Could that be the cause? Its happening in AUTO mode and P mode. Havent tried M or S yet...charging the battery now...

TIA!

Canon EOS Rebel T6i (EOS 750D / Kiss X8i)

Make sure you half press the shutter first to achieve focus. If you full press it without achieving focus first, it will do that. Also, I assume your flash is off because it can do that as well.

There is always something to shoot/snap, you just have to know how to do it and have the right gear.

Thank you, thank helped a lot. I'm coming from a Sony a6000 and the focus lock and taking the photo were almost instant. But, Canon colors are way better! Heck, my fav photo of my pet was made with an SL1 and 18-135 stm lens (which I took, but its been a while)!

Don’t know what lens you used but some are faster than others.

Right now I just have the 18-55 kit lens. I am waiting on the arrival of the 18-135 lens and a sigma 18-50 f2.8-4 lens (NOT to be confused with the 17-50 f2.8).
