anyone using a tamron 100-400 ?

Just picked up this lens, using it on a rebel t7i. Can't seem to get a decently sharp pic on the long end. Only tried it handheld so far. Need to try it off a tripod without vc and maybe even manual focus......I did order the tap in console, but its on a slow boat from Japan.  Anyone have this problem, and was it corrected with firmware or focus adjustment using the Tap in console?

I believe that Rocket13 was using that lens sometimes.  Other times he would use the Tamron 150-600mm lens.  At times he preferred to use the Tamron 100-400mm lens.  He hasn't posted in a while because his wife is recovering from an illness.  But he may come along and reply.  I don't know of anyone else that has used that lens.

Hello, as Digi mentioned I have been away for a bit, I use my 100-400 on an 80D and can MFA in camera after several test I bumped mine to minus 1, maybe didnt need anything but in my mind seemed a bit sharper. I am no pro by any means. Here are a few heavy crops from Sunday. I do love the lens by the way easier for me hiking then my 150-600.

Oh and PS for birds in flight either have stabi off or in middle setting if  in last setting at least 50% will blur where its trying to stabilize as you move. I use middle setting since I am shooting both perched and flying while hiking so my shutter speeds vary depending  on what I am shooting so one less thing for me to change.

Your shots look very good. Im gonna to have to play with my settings when the tap-in arrives. That being said I dont notice much difference when using the lcd to focus so perhaps it wont make any difference...

Try using s different UV filter. My daughter in law had huge problems with that lens on a Canon 80D that completely disappeared with different filter. Both focus and definition were unpredictable and 90% of her photos were unusable. The filter was from Polaroid and a new Hoya solved the issue-

It works fine with the 80D, I was gifted a new Canon 100-400 L IS II  and now shoot with my 90D most times, but if going for a long hike I often leave the L at home and take the tamron although built well it is still lighter then the L and I shoot hand held so the less weight helps my old arms
