Not on the E-M10 (all models) or the PL9 (consumer level).

I believe not even the M5.2 has it.

Pro Capture started with the EM1 mark II, released in late 2016. Your TG-5 was released in 2017.

Although the E-PL9 and the EM10III were released after the EM1II, I suspect Olympus omitted Pro Capture in these models to protect their lucrative EM1 sales. The TG series is seen as a complete different camera segment and thus no threat to the EM1.

Re: Question, E-M10 III and E-PL9 have pro capture mode? thanks

i just found a new use with pro capture on my TG-5

it is for night (low light) photography

in pro capture under low light it will use a long shutter speed of 1/10

now normally if i use 1/10, all pics will be blur

but i found out in pro capture which capture a burst of photo, it will often turn out ok

i think probably because it start buffering as soon as i half press shutter

this enable me to use no more than ISO 400 in most dark situation and together with DXO PRIME, low light IQ suddenly become OK

before that, bad IS on TG-5 so have to push up ISO, than IQ of course is really bad

too bad this feature not in E-M10 III and E-PL9

But on E-M10 III and E-PL9 you have S and M mode which are not available on TG-X. In these modes you set the shutter speed to 1/10s and set the drive mode to continuous shooting (the slow one is good enough and conserves live view, diamond variations for EFCS). Aim and half-press normally, then keep the shutter full-pressed for 4 or 5 clicks, at least one of these pictures will be sharp.

Should work better than pro-capture on the TGs, as the m43 cameras have better stabilizers (even the 3-axis of the E-PL9) and you shoot with mechanical shutter.

What u said may work, i guess

but not exactly the same as pro capture as it start the buffering as soon as half press

i don't have E-M10 III and E-PL9 so not sure if it will work as u said

Re: Question, E-M10 III and E-PL9 have pro capture mode? thanks

It is only a way to get more sharp images with slow shutter speed, as you mentioned Pro Capture as workaround for the missing S/M modes on the TG. It naturally does not provide the original functionality of Pro Capture to capture already before the full press.

In terms of getting sharp images with slow shutter speed you can expect the best picture with the TG and Pro Capture in the middle between half and full press, for the m43 with S/M modes in the middle of the time after full press and taking the finger off the shutter button.

i will try to do so later but i just have an important observation

for each pro capture shot one will get either 6 or 7 burst shot (6 jpeg and 6 RAW or 7 jpeg and 7 RAW)

one need to pick out the sharpest one out of the them and process the sharpest one RAW file with DXO PRIME

right now it seem to me that I can be pick out the sharpest one base on the jpeg file size

the largest jpeg file size (out of the 6 or 7 jpeg file) seem to be the sharpest and the smallest jpeg file size seem to be most blur

please give me some time to confirm this. If it is really so it would be easy (otherwise just find out which is the sharpest one is a difficult task)

I got to sleep now
