I just did it! Z6 and 24-70 2.8S on the way!

I can't describe what it was like to hit that "complete purchase" button at B&H literally just now. Watching all that money go bye-bye. rofl (gotta pick up a few more gigs soon now!)

Z6 and 24-70 2.8S will be here tomorrow.

Looking forward to it!

Not going to lie - in the back of my mind is the N1 debacle and I sure hope the Z doesn’t turn into a travesty like that did.

This is not going the N1 way.   Its a great camera.

You will love it and the $$ spent will go away ( till the credit car bill arrives, that is)

HA-HA!   Still use my N1's all the time, what debacle ?

I got a Z6 recently (love it) and it is basically an overgrown V3.  No more tiny focusing area of my D750.

Over priced  horrendous marketing, crippled system not compatible with anything else Nikon, Fire sale. Silent discontinuation.

Ive enjoyed my N1 system for travel and the CX 70-300 is one of a kind and will keep the N1 for that ability.

I mostly do wedding video and photo. The D750 has been my dual purpose work horse for 4 years. It’s amazing but gimbal work is always a challenge due to focus. The z6 will solve that problem for me.

on the photo side I’ve never needed more than 24MP.

Re: I just did it! Z6 and 24-70 2.8S on the way!

Mine is due Monday, not tomorrow as I expected .   Seems a lifetime ago when I bought the D750 instead of the D810 but it was actually better for what I shoot.   I also bought the Df. Both the Df and D750 turned out to be in my personal  favourite cameras.  My question/decision is whether the Z6 can replace the Df.  The MF aides are a big plus but that Df sensor is just so good .

Enjoy your new gear.

I went from the Df, a camera I swore never to let go of, and moved everything over to the Z6. While the Df will be a hair cleaner at super high ISO (10k+) the Z6 sensor is light years beyond the Df. You did the right thing : )

Re: I just did it! Z6 and 24-70 2.8S on the way!

Good to hear. At the moment I can afford to keep both . The 3 lenses I use most on the Df are the 58 f1.4G, 85 1.4D (sold the 85 1.4G) and the DC105 f2D. Need to see how fast I am with the latter two in MF. I shoot mostly people (when not shooting birds or Sport) . Also watching for new S lenses and my bank account . The Df has a few negative points which are corrected by the Z6 but just love working with the files.  D3S and Df files were/are just so much fun to work with.

Cheers,

Actually... my Nikon 1 V1 experience made me buy and trust the Z7. I believe that the N1 was the breaking/playing/testing ground for the mirrorless Nikon future.

My V1 and all the gear I bougt back in 2011 still working well, so I am not worried about the Z7 at all.

Good luck with your Z6 kit. I hope you'll like it as much as I like the Z7.

The N1 started off with a really well made marketing, but then after a while it died out.

The Z started off with practically zero marketing campaign.

Like the Z, Canon, Sony, or any other system.

Fire sale.

I still have mine, but use it less now since I have the Z7.

Well, I haven't used my Df since I bought the Z6 However, I do like the Df, a lot. Heading for Scotland in a couple of weeks and I think both will get used. But the output from the Z6 + 24-70 F4 S is stellar.

Now I wonder if Nikon will produce a Zf ...
