At a Xinjiang-style restaurant they can cook a lot kinds of dishes with sheep. Well, I can cook (figurative use) a lot kinds of stuff with night herons...

3000mm FL, Program Mode, ISO forced to 100, auto white balanced in GIMP.

Adapted for 1920x1080.

These photos are stunningly good....the clarity and detail is as good as anything I've seen with an expensive DSLR.  Congratulations!

An alternative with clearer beak tip
2

When I picked the shot in the original post from several candidates, I only paid attention to the sharpness of the bird eye. Later I found that the beak tip in that shot wasn't exactly a very sharp one, so I used a photo recovery tool to recover all deleted photos on my SD card, and found an alternative shot with a clearer beak tip and a still sharp eye. Call me compulsive!

3000mm FL, Program Mode, ISO forced to 100, auto white balanced in GIMP.

Adapted for 1920x1080.

Final version (with wallpaper and eye crop)
1

The final version uses an alternative shot, which has a sharper beak tip and a still sharp eye (for more info, see "An alternative with clearer beak tip" in this thread).

3000mm FL, Program Mode, ISO forced to 100, auto white balanced in GIMP.

An 1920x1080 adaptation. I'm currently using this as my desktop PC's wallpaper.

800x800 eye crop.

But the original does have the sharpest eye...

Now I have reverted my desktop wallpaper to the original version (but kept both versions in archive), as the original does have the sharpest eye.

The sharpest eye or a balance between the eye and the beak tip, it's all up to you.
