G7X II has a brighter lens with more zoom range, a tilt screen, a nice grip, and more "pro" control scheme.

G9X II is more compact and cheaper.

Also the G9Xii has a fixed LCD screen on back, whereas the G7Xii has a tilt screen....tilt all the way up for selfie type shots, tilt down or up slightly to get low or high shots. Very useful.

Question

What do you intend to photograph, under what conditions?

The g9x is the smallest, and most pocketable of the 'good' cameras.

Re: G7X mark ii or g9X mark ii

I have both cameras, but since I got the G9x M2, family sickness (hubby's parents) have kept me from taking many photos with it.

What few I have taken, I think the G9x M2 holds up nicely to the G7x M2  and is much more pocketable.

I do not mind that more of the controls have to be used via the touchscreen on the G9x M2.  That is a plus for me personally. The other day, I had the G7x M2 out and needed to change the EVF and I kept poking it on the LCD screen and finally resorted to looking up on the manual how to change the value. DUH, it's a dial under the shutter, and for the longest I forgot that, and it's turns easily, and last year, I discovered I had accidentally turned that dial and had been taking photos with a +1 EVF !!!!!

If I had to part with one of them, I likely would part with the G7x M2 because the lens feels as is it needs protection in a case before putting in my purse, and then I can't get it in my purse at all.  The G9x M2 feels like a little tank, and I drop it in my purse without a case (but with a microfiber thick pouch which is not necessary) and don't worry.  It's light as a feather and very small.

I had the G9x which I gave to my grandson. The G9x M2 was a worthy upgrade for me. I thought I would sell my hardly used G7x M2 but I haven't had a chance to compare them as much as I wanted to before making that decision. I may hang on to them both.

I would consider 2nd hand G7X1 or G9X1 as well. Cut your cost in half.

I've had both. Sold the G9X2. Specs aside, G9X2's lens is really soft. I have a Pixel 3 that would take more detailed pics. I am selling the G7X2 as well and waiting for the Mark 3. If it has 4K and DPAF, I'll probably get it. The G7X2 is nice for photos especially when you zoom all the way in for portraits, but I like to shoot both photos and videos and the video focus pulsating in indoor lighting gets pretty annoying.

I would love to see the Mark III to include USB C, 4K
