Thanks, but I can't find firmware under Menu. So where is it? I hope 4 will go, but seems not to.

Follow the instructions to check here ; http://download2.konicaminolta.eu/openmind/technic/swfw/mswdipho.nsf/7C6619B56C09B97D492570A8000A1B0E/$file/A2_FIRMWARE_114_E.PDF

Found it, firware 1.14! So now I just try the 4 GB card in the shop. He talked about formatting the card. But maybe I should do it in the camera? If it is possible. Sure is large enough!

Yes , you need to format the card in the camera .

When I copy images to a computer I always format the card ( in camera ) rather than deleating images off the card as it keeps everything in good order .

Formatting does more than just deleting .

Sure that's he best way to do it. But not always done that. Which may have been the reason for a few problems. My first card lasted for over 10 year doing it the wrong way.  But "my gradfather drank and smoked, and lived till he was 100" does not prove anything...

This is working fine. $15. Enough space, I suppose?

Great! To me that's a LOT of images that can fit on a 4GB card. I think the most shots I have ever taken during an outing was around 54.

Re: Bringing The A Models Back Out

Glad your sorted .

4GB , even shooting RAW is quite a lot of images with an 8mp camera .

If you find your shooting that many it's no real hardship to get another card . Though I'm sure I've used larger cards in mine .

If you know anyone that uses CF cards in their camera , ask to borrow it just to see if it's compatible . You'll need to format it in camera first .

I normally use my KM A200 when I'm wanting to use a camera like this , usually when I'm out shooting large format film .

I would have to have a good look around for where my A2 is to check what's in it , or what it works fine with .

Think needle in a haystack !!!

If I remember , I will try it out with cards up to 32GB .

So then this card should be safe for others too, with the right firmware. I hope. In the screen at the top 3264 and at the back 543. Not sure which is what. Well, more than enough for me...

Well, if I remember correctly every 8MP RAW of KM's A2 took about 11MB of card space - pretty much more in comparison to later, higher MP cams which had some sort of RAW data compression running.

I also remember times when I first went digital and I ordered a 64MB SD-card to go with that 5MP Minolta F300...

But what stopped me more from photographing than too little storage space was the cam going through the 2 AA rechargeables in less than 1/2 an hour.

Next step to 512MB CF on the KM A2. Just too small.

Currently your number of 54 shots in an outing is less what I'm shooting in a minute when photographing a sports event - not even shooting at highest fps setting and consciently shooting in short bursts..... how times are changing.

Formatting didn't work. So I ran GParted and deleted the partition then rebuild the partition and formatted to fat32. The A2 was then able to format it. Almost 500 jpgs are ready to be shot.

Now I just need to find the time to get out and shoot. I'm working too much overtime right now!

Got this messages in a locked card. Someone showed me this link.

IndexerVolumeGuid

feilkode (fault code) 0x8000000a

Before I found out what GPdeparted is I tried slow formatting after doing "gjenopprett enhetsstandarder" (renew ???standards) and it worked! Hooray! Two working cards, will check if they work in old Nikon and Canon.

On a curious note, other than the battery issue what was your impression of the F300? If you still have a photo from it I would like to see it. I picked up an E323 early this year for next to nothing and thought it was a pretty neat compact for its age.

Re: Bringing The A Models Back Out

Reading these words I thought: back out? New sensor and software for more speed!

Sony asked if replacement is possible but they don't answer; to old! Sony , the successors,  the firm that let us down with no firmware update for our/My RX1r, grrr.

You must be as I am; taking your time for shots......well all from 8mp sensor!

I have the A1 and the A2......use the A2 for better EVF, but otherwise the A1 has 1:16000 shutter speed....so better in summer...and cleaner images. But what I really love is the handling and the photographers hands that designed it. Much to learn for present designers I believe.

So Sony bring the A model back out again!
