Portraits: From flat to snap in four easy moves in Capture One Pro 12
3

I shoot portraits in a camera's raw mode and at the beginning of the session shoot a well-exposed frame that includes an assistant holding a standard size X-rite 24 patch
ColorChecker target. In Capture One Pro 12 The moves are:
1) Basic capture sharpening (no clarity or Structure adjustments)

2) Adjust white balance for third lightest patch

3) Adjust white value for target's white patch target to around 230 and the black patch value to around 35

4) Readjust white balance using the third lightest patch again.
Once I am happy with the way things look on my calibrated and profiled monitors I sync these adjustments to the entire shoot if shot in the same basic lighting set up.

Nice, succinct and to the point.

I just got in to photography and I love the artistic and technical aspect of it.
