Sigma MC-11 Firmware update

Does anyone know why Sigma says "※Before attaching the updated SIGMA MOUNT CONVERTER MC-11 to the camera body, please remove the battery pack from the camera and put it back in again"  after updating the MC-11 Firmware,

Surely having the camera e.g. A6xxx or A7, A9, having the camera turned off should have the same effect.

We have seen a number of cheaper adapters, like the Viltrox III, that run the battery down even though the camera has been switched off. There is either power continuously to some of the mount pins, or there is a situation where the camera will continue to supply power after enabling it, (I think the latter), regardless of whether the camera has been switched off. Removing and reinserting the battery is known to reset this situation.

A7R2 with SEL2470Z and a number of adapted lenses (Canon FD, Minolta AF, Canon EF, Leica, Nikon...); A7R converted to IR.

SQLGuy,

Ok, but it seems it's only necessary to remove the battery pack just the first time after the MC-11 is updated, surely it is not necessary to remove the battery/battery pack every time before attaching the MC-11 to the camera body. That would make no sense.

No, that is not necessary, and that's not what I read in the text you posted. It clearly says, "... after updating the MC-11 firmware." They just want to make sure the camera is fully rebooted between uses of the adapter on different versions of firmware.
