Hi

To get more zoom then the 100 - 300 is certainly one of several options

If the people or subject is not moving then it will probably be easy to use.

If the subjects are moving then it's a matter of you being able t get them in frame, focus, track and shoot, which may not be easy.

I think the result of this test will answer better than anyone here could answer for  you:

Test:

  • use your 14-140 at the 140 end
  • Zoom with your feet to make a typical subject be as zoomed as you'd like
  • Try to get the shot

For example:   If doing moving cars/people, position yourself somewhere so that at 140 mm you have the cars/people filling the frame so that it appears they way you want if you had the 100-300.    See if you can get the shot.  If yes then you simply need to figure out how much more zoom you want,e.g.   the 200 mm lens, the 100-300, etc.

Try setting your existing lens to 140mm and turn on your ex teleconverter to see how practical you think it is.

Suspect you might find 100mm frustrating at the short end, especially if used to the 14-140 or 35-100. Yes, the 300mm reach is good for long shots but you may find yourself wanting to shoot wider than 100mm. Not sure how best to try this, maybe go out with the 35-100 and keep it to 100mm and see how many shots you can't get ?

Although I have some portraits that I've taken with the 100-300 mm, they're almost always at 100 mm. Even at 100 mm, faces look a bit funny because of the narrow angle.

Some samples, all taken with a GX7 and 100-300 mk I:

100 mm, f/4

100 mm, f/4

162 mm, f/4

I just posted an example, it works for me. That is if you want to be a long way from your subject, so they don't notice you there.
