Is the new EOS-250 not just an M50 with a mirror ?

When I do a comparison on this site

https://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=canon_eosm100&products=canon_eosm50&products=canon_eos250d

I notice that the characteristics of the newly launched EOS 250 looks like an M50 with mirror. If this is true, then the 250 would be an obsolete product, except for slapping mirror/ OVF lovers.

Why did Canon launch this camera ?

Why did Canon launch this camera ?

Because Canon are attempting to make sales in both markets.

There are some differences in the specification and a lot of difference in handling.

Just because you don't seem to like DSLRs doesn't make them obsolete

I understand that some people prefer mirrorless and don't need/want an optical viewfinder.  There are other folks that don't mind the mirror, and want an OVF.

So if the SL3/250D is obsolete, then the M50 is also obsolete.

Personally, I really don't understand why mirrorless fans seem to think that the "standard" DSLR is obsolete.   Two separate product lines, for two separate (usually) segments of the market place.

Personally, I own DSLRs and point-and-shoots.  Take pictures with a phone sometimes. No plans to expand to mirrorless.  And i'm happy with what I have.

I'm surprised that the smartphone attachable cameras (eg Sony QX10) aren't being improved and marketed aggressively.
