Re: BG-E22 USB C Charging problem

I am having the same charging problem. I took your advice and turned the camera on then off. Only the left side charging light is shoes “green” as though charging. The right side charging light stays off. Any more suggestions??

It still only shows the left side battery charging. So does it charge the left side and then the right side ?

Re: BG-E22 USB C Charging problem

I think the only solution is to replace the grip.  I have given up and just charge the batteries separately.  I can't trust the USB plug and don't want to buy another one and end up in the same boat.

Re: BG-E22 USB C Charging problem

so...how important is it to use the USB charger. Seems like lots of people having trouble with the charger. What I want to know is, do you find the grip on the EOS R body useful or not? On Fathers Day, my kids bought me the updated RAVpower LP-E6/LP-E6N dual charger with 2 RAVpower LP-E6N equivalent batteries (i also have 4 Canon LP-E6N batteries)

I have found the battery grip on sale at Camera Canada, but I think it comes without the charging cord...probably what makes it so inexpensive.  I bought my EOS R body from them a year ago and was very happy with their service...came with valid Canada/USA warranty as well. Looking forward to hearing from some of you out there. Thanks ahead of time for your replies.

I bought the same dual charger and much prefer it to the inconsistent contact of the USB charger.

I like battery grips a lot and have them on all my cameras, so I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask.  I like shooting portrait with the grip and really like it on larger lenses.  I bought an EOS RP without a grip so I have something small and portable for light travel, but all my main cameras will always have grips.

Re: BG-E22 USB C Charging problem

Hello Canon friends. My battery grip function vel. I have charged both batteries this night on the grip. I use my same USB C power supply as to my hp 840 g6 laptop. It started with left light on. This came on after about 10 seconds. After one night lights was of. I find in menu battery information. It shows me that both batteries was charged 100%.

Best regards John

Yup it's my understanding if you use a 5v and at least 2.4 amp PD charging system you're good to go.

I just went through the same challenge and can confirm this:

1. Aftermarket batteries do NOT work in the BG E-22 charger.

2. Original Canon batteries charge BUT they need to be under 90%

Hope this helps and stops people from returning working gear.
