Long exposure waning crescent
2

On the 9th of April, I tried my first attempt at recreating (faking) a very slow shutter speed using many shorter exposures; Despite having what I consider too much underexposure, and only using ISO 200, I was surprised at how bright the stars showed up, and was excited at how well the moon illuminated the sky! I've been working to improve my future long exposure moon photos, but I think that the waning crescent was more or less perfect, because any other phase could add well too much light to the scene and wash out the stars. To get the exposure accurate, I tried to use short exposure as it was far easier, rather than try and make a single, 1 hour or so exposure. Does anyone know exact settings to use to get this result on a single exposure during a waning crescent? This is a composite of approximately 100 photos, each at five seconds of shutter speed. I was hoping to find a way to get rid of the gaps that could be seen in the clouds, maybe using a faster memory card?
