I broke down. Just ordered a laptop PC for one stereo app.

I gave up. Now that I have successfully digitized some of my hundreds or thousands of slides, I might have to leave something on a hard drive for my offspring far flung across the nation. Some 5K away. Since I am a firm MAC OS user, I think it will be smarter to have a little PC with Windows and use the legendary Stereo Photo Maker. Like the rest of the world.

I have posted about all that someone helped me by long distance to process. They are no longer interested in same, and I can understand. I hate computer work...why should I like it but as a necessity of life in photo world, I am going to spend to own one program and it beats the alternatives. I am assuming that all on this forum use Stereo Photo Maker. Am I right? And is it as good as it is promoted. I mean I am putting some real money down to be able to do this digital conversion of pairs. And I will save, I think to the usual 2400 px wide for each I post to web as pair(s)  as I have been....Any ideas on JPEG sizes is most welcome.

Oh yes, the brand I have on order is an ASUS with SSD. Ya cant take it with you ( that is a ringing theme but I hate the thought of the taking part implication) aloha to all.

Once the scans are on the HD as pairs there is always some dust, easily cloned out or brushed out, some color adjustment with curves..and saved to a web friendly size.  it takes time but I am ruthless in selecting only those I covet.  Some are best interred with their bones , or metal mounts whatever.....LOL

I do my conversions on an Android tablet that I bought from Best Buy for $80.00. The program that I use is called 3DSteroidPro, and is available from the Google Play store $3.00.

Sorry if this is too little too late, but I use SPM on my MacBook Pro with no problems at all, using Wine. Although I'm sure you must have seen on the SPM website that running on the Mac is mentioned.

But I will say that there is something to be said for having a computer dedicated to a particular function, so you may well end up being happier running SPM on its own dedicated machine, even if it is Windows.

It's really too bad that nobody makes 3D laptops and monitors any more.

I am assuming that all on this forum use Stereo Photo Maker. Am I right?

Can't speak to that, but there are 3D related Yahoo groups that have been around for a long time where there are lots of SPM users, and there is even an SPM dedicated list, which has been quiet lately.

I go by the principal of capturing at as high rez as possible, do all processing in SPM in one go if possible, to avoid JPEG generational degrading.  Then I will batch export a bunch of SPM images, as needed, at the best size to suit how they will be displayed.

Re: I broke down. Just ordered a laptop PC for one stereo app.

You may have been able to economize by obtaining a used laptop, but what you have obtained should work OK.

The android app "3DStereiod Pro" was (is) built by the same programmer that developed (and updates) StereoPhotoMaker.

StereoPhotoMaker is a highly versatile stereo editor. It accepts just about any stereo pair "input" ( including single left and right files) and will output just about any stereo format, as well as auto-align, manually align, match color differences between views, stereo crop, adjust the stereo window, print Holmes Cards (and other printed formats), clone brush between views to remove disparities, and MUCH more.

It does have a learning curve to become familiar with.

An alternate Yahoo Group to join (much more active) would be:
