There are various methods, some outlined above, but you have only hope, not guarantee that your goal has been achieved. If you need to be certain, reformatting, erasing and reinstalling is the only way.

Re-Imaging is all you can do, really ...

Re-imaging s the only solution. We re-image all Mac and Win Barf computers each day or anytime our internal IT scripts detect a Mac of Win Barf computer is detected on our company network.

Go into settings to reset the pc and select include personal files. It will be just as fresh as a new install. Want more, log in again and follow this guide :https://www.howtogeek.com/137108/how-securely-overwrite-free-space-in-windows/ and nobody will be able to recover anything either.

Suggestions to reinstall above also require that guide if you are worried about recovery as not even a regular format and reinstall will render files unrecoverable perse.

It is the quickest and easiest method. Don't buy into the aluminum hats.

Thank you.... worked great. Excellent solution!

You can delete all the personal files and then do a wipe of just the free space.

This is essentially the same thing, but with Windows intact.

I recommend using Active @Kill-Disk and select Wipe Free Space once you delete your personal files

Unless you nuke stuff in the registry it won't be good...

I did this for an ex-GF (who wanted to sell their Laptop) but it's a huge pain running around making sure everything was gone, then going through the registry with a fine tooth-comb... Plus there's protected storage and other crap... Flash cookies...

Deleting the user accounts they use is a good starting point, as loads of stuff goes south.

Don't forget to wipe the free space at the end. I used "Hard Disk Scrubber".

Completely? This might help.

Other than that, Factory reset seems like the best option.
