EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 Sale
1

I have been watching and on the fence about this lens for three years or so. Wanted it to replace my kit lens. It always stayed near $800-$850. Never decided to go for it for my T5i because of the price being right on the edge of what I wanted to put into a new lens.

It never dropped very much during those years but now it is on sale for $549 on Amazon and Best Buy.  Someone might want to check it out for their Rebel.

I moved to a full frame Canon a month ago so it finally dropping a lot in price does me no good. I gave my T5i kit and kit zoom to a neighbor who wanted to be a photographer but only had pocket cameras to use. Didn't want to find it in my closet 10 years from now collecting dust.

It seems very much a L lens without the weather sealing to make it so. UD elements and constant f/2.8 with a fast focus motor. It can get some dust in it over the years as the front element moves to zoom. But it is easy to remove the front element to clean after watching youtube videos of people cleaning it.

I borrowed one for about 10 minutes once from a friend - waay too Big & bulky to suit me, & as you said it has been known to suck in dust.

$504 Canon USA refurb

Good as new, same 1 yr Canon warranty.  Just shop elsewhere for a clone of the EW-83J lens hood.

If that is too big and bulky, you'd really not like my FF kit I replaced the Rebel with.  Much heavier and a bit bulkier than the 17-55mm rebel combo.  I do some video and heavier is actually a benefit for stability.

Interestingly, I noticed the 17-55mm f/2.8 being used (the only lens used) by the photography artist/hero in the movie "Get Out".  The villain was also into photography so he targeted the artist.

Re: EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 Sale

The EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 is one of my favorite lenses. It gives me the 24-70mm zoom range with IS on my 70D. It's a little big, but provides great results.

I had the sigma 17-50mm f2.8 ex DC OS HSM which is as good optically and has very fast af and os also.

Not same build quality but certainly very good

At the price if you don't need weather sealing the sigma is a STEAL
