I ordered an XT100 to use with an XF23 F2, Adorama is offering a crazy deal I couldn’t pass, you get the camera body plus the Domke Fuji bag, the small Fuji EF-X20 flash, 32gb memory card and a peak wrist strap, all for $559. I sold my XT2 last year and recently my XH1 and I’m currently waiting for an XT30, I preordered the charcoal so it won’t come till June, I hope the XT100 isn’t too slow like they say, I’m planning to use it as my landscape cam so I’ll be getting an L bracket for it.

That's a great deal, I'll be very surprised if you find the AF too slow, I was shooting with mine yesterday and had no issues at all, just remember to switch on performance mode, which doesn't appear to make any difference to battery life, which is pretty good anyway. Enjoy and let us know what you think.

Performance mode will be the first thing I set after updating the firmware. How do you find the little grip that comes in the box? This camera will be used mostly for landscape and and possibly at gatherings for indoor use.

It's ok but I prefer a deeper grip, so I got one of these, which is ideal for me. I've removed the side bar on it so I can still flip out the LCD. It adds a bit of weight but not too much and makes it more comfortable for me to operate the rear coin slot type control wheel with my thumb. I find it very comfortable to shoot with this on.

It looks good, is it smallrig brand?

Just generic chinese made, very well made too.

Update: X-A5 vs X-E3

I've had some more time to play around with the XT100 and the XT20 and I'm finding that even though they are small, I'm really looking for the absolute smallest footprint I can manage without sacrificing image quality.

It looks like the rangefinder-styled X-E3 is even smaller and has the insides of the XT20, and the X-A5 has the smallest body out of all the Fuji ILC's and its at a price that's really hard to ignore.

As I've already got a Canon EOS R for my professional event work and an M50 as a B Cam for when video needs it, I think the X-E3 might just be overkill as a lightweight, travel-ready jpg machine.

Thanks to all who've been able to chime in with their experience so far. I'll consider weighing my options here as I'm absolutely floored with Fuji's color output and I have to find my way into the X system one way or another. Its getting tougher and tougher to return the XT20 I'm currently borrowing.

Have you considered the X100 series?  The X100F is a fabulous camera.  The third generation X100T is also very highly praised.

I definitely have. The X100F is almost exactly what I want but the price point is a little bit out of reach right now. I'm keeping a close eye on the used market though in case I get a chance to snag one there.

What is your primary consideration here, I have xtrans(x-h1) and x-t100 and in terms of iq x-t100 will be on the heals of your eos r, obviously it doesn’t have the outright resolution to challenge it but it will shock you! X-t100 is also pasm and it has been provided with a top configuration dial that most of us use for iso, which has 3 configurable auto iso’s. The ev dial on the top right dial completes a very nice set up and I do like the vertical back dial for magnifying focus check. The af button is also soft on the screen and is far superior to the front af selector of other xtrans models. Overall I like the x-t100 it is very very accomplished in most areas with very dependable af.

Anyone have any experience with this exact combo? I'm looking to pick up a new camera for just general purpose, take everywhere kind of photos with a small footprint.

I've seen a lot of the negative reviews on the XT100's AF performance, but I see that quite a few firmware updates have been issued so I wonder if peoples complaints have been addressed?

I'm sure most of my use will be single point AF in AF-S with Av priority, and just sending the jpegs straight to my phone; Nothing fancy and probably very little RAW editing and definitely no video.

I'm just curious if the 40% AF coverage and AF performance has impacted anyone negatively in regular use, too.

For comparison, I have an M50 that is super small and takes good jpegs, but the battery life is pretty terrible and it has its own pains with the EVF sensor and lack of dials, among other things.

Any insight you can provide is greatly appreciated!

not the X-T100, but I owned the XF27 and it was one of my favorit lenses!

It didn't produce the bokeh images, that many lust after. but for me (with kids), it was a bargain: small, super fast AF on my (X-T1, X-T10), good colors and a perfect FOV. Shot it around f4 predominantly - no issues and many keepers.

and 40% AF coverage is not that bad. I had a X-Pro1, X-100T, X-T10 and X-T1 and am used to the 9 AF fields. In Fact, I don't use the many fileds of the X100F  (and thus the joystick). I don't mind recompose or even better: manual focus. the focus assist is amazing in good light. bad light? switch to B/W with red H peaking.

I hope you get the XF27. It's available for 200 used

I have the same issue, screen won't open all the way to the front.  How did you do that with just sandpaper?

In short, with these

Let me know if you want more details, used the sandpaper for the most part, and the file to round off the corners at the end.

Update: Bought an X70
2

Ended up finding a really great deal on a used X70. It has all of the pros that I wanted, Classic Chrome, tilt screen, manual duals, touch to focus, small footprint, and an aperture ring.

If Fuji never plans to make an X80, then I'm certainly fine with using the X70 for now as my first foray into the land of Fujifilm.

I'm hoping the AF performs adequately enough and it'll definitely take some getting used to with the 28mm FOV, as I usually shoot street with 35mm. It should be here Friday, and I'm looking forward to taking it out for a spin!
