Olympus M.Zuiko 12-200 vs (14-150 II + 75-300 II)

Hi there,

I know there is a hot discussion about the price of a new 12-200 lens.

However (I though a little bit inside my head) if there is a chance to get rid off both used m.zuiko 14-150 II and 75-300 II, there is a little margin left for obtaining the 12-200.

As there is almost no-brainer for me that 12-200 can replace 14-150 easily, I still have doubt about 75-300. How would the quality of 200mm (with crop) of 12-200 compare to 300mm of 75-300.

Anyone has the same struggle as myself?

So many better ways to spend your money. Your 14-150 is a typical superzoom as is the 12-200 (maybe worse on the long end). It is just a different FL range and it costs a lot more. The 75-300 is going to be way better at 200 than the 12-200. Just keep what you have and if you feel the need to spend money look elsewhere. If you'd like 12mm sometimes buy the tiny 12-32 and carry along for those moments. It will be at least as good as the 12-200 at 12mm and probably better than your 14-150 from 14-32.

Thank you Jonathan! What you say makes total sense...I was just looking to even lighten more my already light bag, so to get 2 lens into 1 (mostly for travelling). I see your point about 12mm....I have 12-40 which I will never part with, as I need something for indoors.

Re: So many ...

I was very fortunate to get the E-M10 II with the kit lenses 14-42 and 40-150.

But in wet weather I don't change lenses.

The 14-45 is just wide enough to do a selfie on videos for introductions and ends. For our rental adverts 14 is a bit limiting, so I keep using my SH-1 which does 12-300 in m4/3 terms.

As to the 12-200 - to my knowledge it has not hit the shops yet. The reviews are a guide, but it will be the buying public that matters. The price does matter, since I will have to haggle with Sandra about it.
