This month with your Nikon 1 - March 2019
2

Welcome to a new year and another monthly thread! Feel free to share your work either here or through individual threads on the forum, whatever you are more comfortable with.

The rules are simple:

  • Add your contribution by responding to this first message in this topic.
  • Change the subject of your message, then embed your image into the reply with whatever you’d like to say about it.
  • If you want criticism/critique (C&C) or technique feedback, say so. It’s generally assumed that you want general feedback, but direct requests make it clearer.

The title of the thread shouldn't discourage you from posting older pictures. Feel free to post anything that you found again in your archives or that you are currently working on.

Wall Calender - March 2019
7

For 2019, I had created a wall calendar with a variety of animals - this picture marks the start of honey production in my garden:

The flowering season in 2019 is much later - no blossoms open yet this  year...

Cheers,
Holger

Four from Lake Luhu
8

Hi Everybody,

After the rains ceased this morning, I had a nice walk around Lake Luhu with the V3.  The wee Nikon did a fine job in the poor light.   I will be piggish and post four shots.  And please forgive me if my PP hand is heavy, I am new at this and learning as I go along.

Little Grebe

A butterfly

A nother butterfly, having a drink.  Perhaps there is Old Speckled Hen in there.

A boat.  B&W courtesy of Lightroom

All V3 and 70-300 CX.

Cheers,

Russ

Wild Mustard

The wild mustard in the canyon next to my house is in full bloom now. I live in coastal dessert but we are having a very rainy spring so plants are happy.

V2 + BIF
6

Hi Everybody,

It was another rainy and grey day here today.  It dried out mid-day so I took the V2 out for a spin. I am glad I did, the swallows were out over the lake, and some of their friends.

Not a great shot, but always satisfying to get a piece of one of these.

Pacific (aka 'Barn') Swallow

I though Swallows were tough.  But this guy was even harder...

Astonished it would even lock on.  All V2 + VR 70-300 CX.

Cheers,

Russ

A Walk on the Beach
3

Took some time off last weekend to head over to the coast and had a nice, clear day for a change.

Beach at Carlsbad, CA

Not a BIF guy, but got sort of lucky.

Wish the WSSA was still active.  Have I mentioned that I really like the 30-110?

NYC St Patrick Parade - J5 + 10/2.8
2

I wanted to enjoy this year St Patrick parade in New York and did not want to bother bring along with me some heavy gear so I just took the little J5 with just the 10/2.8 lens.  It was a lovely day to stroll around instead of focusing on photography but I came away with a few nice shots to share here.

getting toward 5th Ave

I was lucky to find a spot by 5th Ave

in Grand Central Terminal

some street photographs along the side streets from 5th Ave.

... and it was time to head back home after the day.

Thank you for looking.

photo note:  the little J5 with just the 10/2.8 is still a very enjoyable little combination.

Re: London protest
1

While the protest (by those wanting the UK to stay in the UK) was serious, there was a lot of fun had...

Finding no banners they just had to make some on the spot

Give us a say, its our future!

Well, each had their own reason to protest

These are from my first attempt at street photography during a protest this weekend. C&C on composition, sense of atmosphere, etc, very welcome. Gear: my V1 was a great tool (except for my still dodgy eye sensor / screen). In the end, I left my normal street favourite 18.5mm in the bag and went with the 10-30mm for flexibility all day.

Thanks!

Richard
