Hi, I have been looking at the comparisons between the photos taken with different bodies - lenses. The first serie is the 7D for me the best, a little sharper, but somwhere some more CA (lens perhaps?). Second serie the 10mpx does a better job when zooming in but overall the 7D had a nice and sharp look also.

Good job and thanks for showing.

Three more camera I have and still own .

Coming from from Minolta A-mount film bodies , the Sony a100 was my first DSLR so I could continue using my Minolta lenses .

I got this before the a700 came out , otherwise that would have been my first DSLR !

I wasn't impressed with the Sony's high ISO , 400 being the most I used . 800 wasn't useable , and 1600 was joke !

The two higher settings were only of use converted to black and white .

At low ISO (100) it gave great images .

I got a used Dynax 7d as a back up to the a100 and also to use at higher ISO's as they looked better .

Next model I got was the a580 followed by a used a900 .

That's still my main camera with an a77ii as back-up or for when I'm shooting sports /action or telephoto type stuff ( wildlife etc )

.

I also have a Pentax *ist d . Partly to use my Pentax manual focus lenses on ( before all this E mount gear came out ) , partly to leave in the Camper van as it used AA batteries so didn't need to worry about having a camera with me and just a flat battery .

But the main reason I got it was to use on a set of bellows for close up photography where the aperture stopped down automatically when the shutter was fired .

With the Sony/Minolta bodies only the very expensive Novaflex bellows did this .

Otherwise you had to stop the lens down first , then you couldn't see through the viewfinder to check to see you haven't nudged the set up before the exposure was made .

Thanks for the comparisons here and on flickr .

Thank you

I bought mine used in late 2012 .

I'd been saving up some money for a while and was looking towards getting an a99 .

Went to the shop to buy one , tried it and didn't like it .

Went to another shop in town that also sold used gear and they had both a very low shutter count ( less than 1600 shots ) Sony a900 that looked good as new for £800 , tried it , bought it , love it . Still my main camera !

From what I've seen on ebay , a900's and a850 seem to go for nearly half that now , often for between £400 and £450 .

A good time to be buying .

I'd bought the Canon 5d (original) before this as I wanted a full frame camera that cost me about £320 ( ten years ago ) , I see these now for less than £250 .

It's a good time to buy if you wan't cheap full frame cameras as everyone's wan't the "newest" and latest .

.

They also had a mint copy of the Sony 35mm f/1.4 lens in .

That was also around £800 . Bought that too , still had change in my pocket after getting both for less than the a99 !

.

After using the a77ii as a back up and sports camera I've come to the conclusion that at some point I will be getting the a99ii , probably this year .

from what I gather the a99 wasn't much more of a step up from the a900 anyway , but the a99ii is .

Though a new computer will also be needed with much more RAM to process the RAW files .

Re: And also !

A slippery slope indeed , especially if your in to film photography as well .

Apart from digital I also shoot 110 , 16mm , 35mm , 120 , 5"x4" and 7"x5" sheet film !

Cameras , lenses , film , and I've still to finish building the darkroom !

It's amazing how similar the images from these cameras are!

Where the are differences, the Minolta usually has the advantage, to my eye.

Re: It's amazing how similar the images from these cameras are!

Thank you very much for the comparisons I just got this camera and your posts helped, they're noticed! Can you please do a comparison between the 7d and the Olympus e1?it's the other camera I am considering.

And perhaps set a standard test for all the beautiful cameras that you have, kind of like what imaging resource does maybe, that way all the cameras can be compared together without being a new set for each pair, it is tedious but would be nice to have. Maybe comparison of a portrait  print that has people in it to see how different they each look on people, as our brains are made to notice those more and cameras are meant for people.

Pic attached is the one example imaging resource used of a poster on a wall.

A comparison between the Olympus E-1 and the Minolta 7D, is on my comparison list (90 in total) for a more or less near future.
