Re: Hacking Pentax Debug mode

What method(s) do you use to find out this information?

Complex names of files. Non obvious things to do, like leaving door open.

Re: Hacking Pentax Debug mode

Please do follwing steps for K-S2:

  1. Create on SD card file "00077860.551" with "[OPEN_DEBUG_MENU]" and LF char.
  2. Create on SD card file "DEVELOP.MOD" exact 10 bytes long with binary content:
    Hexbytes: 07 1A 02 0A 19 18 1B 1C 05 11
  3. Turn off camera, plugin this SD card. Leave card door open. Hold "menu" button and turn camera on.

Interested if any extra function can be added to my K5ii-S . . .

So can anyone advise how to enter debug mode in K5ii-S ? And can any additional functions be added?

Cheers

Re: Hacking Pentax Debug mode

Three questions:

  1. Are these techniques firmware version independent or are specific?
  2. What is debug mode exit technique? Is it the same for all cameras or is camera / FW specific (KP)?
  3. Do you have techniques how to enter and exit debug mode for a K-70?

Ha-ha nobody wants to pay for camera hacks today. So I do it just for fun, besides having fulltime job and family...

If you can hack the firmware to make the AF work faster, then people would pay for it

This is already done: just buy newer camera model and you get it. And I can't offer it for this price.

Re: Hacking Pentax Debug mode

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I'm new so I can't PM bootcoder directly. Has anyone tried the K1 debug mode access method given in this thread on K1 firmware 1.51? I have a lens which needs just a little bit more AF adjustment than the stock +10/-10 and I'm hoping that this is the solution.
