Re: Playing With Filters -- Seashore Scene

The colours are bright in a metallic sort of way but that suits the metallic sheen on the water. Nice composition too.

So much (well pictured) wildlife in one area. Wish I lived near a similar area.

Re: The usual, I'm afraid

These are all fully excellent.

And I'm not sure you do need a new venue. You seem to be getting great results in Brixton.

Keep up the good work.

Re: Screech Owl in the woods

Hand held?  Mono / Tri -pod?

Maybe add a bit of subtle contrast vignette (easy to be a back seat driver after you've brought us safely all the way to the destination, granted)?   Just a thought.

The eagle pair in Centerport Long Island were trading incubation duties when I visited them the other afternoon. Comments and suggestions welcome,

After a bit of a hiatus from owling, we ventured out yesterday and were fortunate enough to come across a pretty, but rather reclusive Screech Owl hiding in and among a large thicket. Finding an angle without some sort of branches interfering with the FOV was very challenging, but we were finally able get a decently unobscured view. This little guy was in the process of waking up from his afternoon nap and getting ready to fly out and hunt for dinner (which he did 20 or so minutes after we starting photographing him).

Re: The usual, I'm afraid

There is beauty in the usual.  Many years ago I walked a small hiking path in a local mountain at lunch every day of the week when there was no rain.  The amazing thing is that through the sameness there was always something a little different each day.  Hundreds of times but something new each time.

They are fine.  We enjoy seeing them.

Thanks, Vic.  Just got s discount notice from a photo printing business so it is time to put in an order for a large acrylic print.  Should look nicer.

Thanks very much much, Bob T, and Bob B!  To your suggestion, Bob T, is this sort of what you had in mind?  I added a bit of vignetting (possibly not quite enough) to see if it might highlight the subject and increase the contrast with the background just a touch.  Not a huge difference, and possibly calls for even a bit more vignetting, but I'd appreciate any feedback.

With corner vignetting

Original with no vignetting

I like this photo a lot! I've been capturing bald eagles also, but none of my images are quite as good...yet.

What is that darker line from that I circled?

I imagine it's an out of focus branch? That's the only thing I find distracting from the overall image.
