Can I adapt a pentax K lens to my samsung NX300?

Hello, new user here and pretty much new to the digital photography world. I own a NX300 camera, and I have some Pentax K mount lenses (remains of an old pentax film camera I had). I wanted to know if there is an adapter to use these lenses on my NX300, I understand that I would have to use them manually but is the above possible?

I am not sure if to adapt a different lens to my camera the lens need to be from an APS-C camera. In general, with the use of an adapter, what kind of lenses can be used with the NX300? FDor instance, lenses of older 35mm film cameras? Regarding digital  cameras, can I use a micro 4/3 lens on an APS-C, with the use of an adapter?

Thank you!

Simple answer : yes. Mount adapters are readily available. Older 35mm P/K lenses work well on my NX500. Newer APS/C lenses would work too with the caveat that you need one with the possibility of setting the aperture.

Lenses for Micro four thirds will not work because they are made for a smaller sensor size.

Re: Can I adapt a pentax K lens to my samsung NX300?

When Samsung launched the NX series of cameras they also released a (horrendously expensive) PK-NX adaptor, as their previous "GX"-range of DSLR's were effectively re-badged Pentax cameras.

The only "good thing" about Samsung's adaptor is that it has the ability to (manually) control the aperture in PK-fit lenses that don't have an aperture ring.

This is possibly of no concern to you as most PK lenses from the film era had an aperture ring, so you can use one of the readily available after-market adaptors.

However, I have had bad experience with a "Pixco" adaptor not allowing infinity focus (poorly manufactured) so would suggest an "IKecay" adaptor if you can find one ... mine works fine

Good luck

Yes, I have MF Auto Revuenon 50 1.4 PK and I have used it on NX300/500 with adapter. You can use many of the old 35mm manual lenses.

The only problem I had was not that good adapter that was not pushing the camera pin and the camera reports "No lens attached".

Re: Can I adapt a pentax K lens to my samsung NX300?

Thanks for your responses! Now if you kindly could tell me how to set the camera to use one of these 35mm pk lenses...I mean which mode would be the best? I understand that I would need to set aperture on the lens, but if you could tell me how to do this, step by step, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you in advance!

Set the camera in "A" mode (Aperture Priority). Once you get proficient you may want to try using Manual (M) mode for "artistic" reasons, most if not all of the other modes will probably either revert to Aperture Priority or not work at all.

Choose an "average" sensitivity, probably 100-400 ISO to start with.

With the lens mounted and the aperture wide open (lowest number), focus on the subject.

Set the aperture to provide the required depth-of-field. With an electronic viewfinder (or rear screen) you'll probably not notice the image getting dimmer as it would on a DSLR with an optical viewfinder.

Check that the shutter speed the camera chooses is "sensible", that is to say not too slow so's to suffer from camera shake (less of a problem if mounted on a tripod), or not too high (flashing) if you're not stopping down very much. Either problem can usually be solved by adjusting the sensitivity (ISO). In the event of wanting to work with a wide aperture lens wide open in bright light you may need to fit a Neutral Density (ND) filter to prevent over-exposure.

Take picture.

Repeat!

Enjoy

I use the Fotasy Pentax DA to NX adapter with aperture control: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Pentax-DA-lens-to-Samsung-NX1000-NX300-NX210-NX200-NX20-NX10-NX5-Adapter/322076567292?hash=item4afd4266fc:g:sB0AAOSwubRXEd3c:rk:4:pf:0

If the lens has an aperture ring, set the adapter to "lock" position, then set the desired F value on the aperture ring. If the lens doesn't have the aperture ring, you still can adjust the aperture size by rotating the ring on the adapter between "open" and "lock" positions, but you can't set the exact F stop.
