Panasonic file names

Some Panasonic Lumix G7 files begin with P and others with _ I wonder why that is. The numbers following seem to follow the order I take them. I thought it had something to do with the 4K or Burst mode, but I am not sure now because I still get them though I don't recall using burst or 4K.
Why are there two different beginning characters and what do they mean? And can I set them to just one character so that I don't get confused?

With most cameras the default Pxxxxxxx means sRGB colour space, the alternative _xxxxxxx usually means Adobe RGB colour space. Have you set up a custom mode that uses the alternative colour space instead of the universally accepted sRGB space?

Dig in the manual and it should explain that.

Thank you for the quick answer. I had no idea about color spaces. I will check it out. There are so many menus and buttons, I might have done something.
Thank you.

Thank you.

A quick scan of the full user manual I see.....

In the same quick scan I only found this with reference to the file names.....

That shows the complex folder structure of the SD card and the upper right shows the "P" and "_" as sRGB and Adobe RGB respectively.

The manual is found from http://help.panasonic.ca/english/support/operatinginstructions/query.asp and search for "g7" and download the biggest file, in this case the Model Number(s): DMCG7PP sqw0392 (16.3 MB , English) will lead you to the 411 page manual for some light reading.

So, make sure that you have set to sRGB colour space to make life easier.

No Panasonic bodies here so only working from the manual.

Regards...... Guy
