The SX40 is one camera that I will never get rid of because of its fantastic lens as can be seen here in photo No 1.  Personally my vote goes to No 3 for composition and rule of thirds. It looks like a scene from a fairy tale. The dark woods creates an ominous background... Who knows what could be lurking there...?  What happened to the people in the houses?  It looks almost too quiet.  And that black car?  Hmm,,, very strange.  Yes some photos can get the imagination running wild.  Thank you for keeping the SX40 alive!

Mr. Aitch,

The same here, the PoweShot SX40HS is one camera that I will never get rid of. For low light shots I love the fast F2.7 lens.

Thanks for the kind words. I enjoyed your interpretation of the image. You are very observant and have advanced analytical skills.

Still have and use the SX40 as backup to the SX50.  At 35x vs 50 zoom range I tend to favor the 50.  The humpy look of the 40 was an initial put-off but it grows on you.  The slightly faster lens is a plus but I have never noticed the difference.  Nice to have the 40/50/60 using the same battery.  All in all the SX50 wins by a good margin.

Now, just waiting for the SX70 to drop in price and get a couple major site reviews.  None seem to be in a hurry to review this camera.  Perhaps they realize it isn't going anywhere soon.

@OpticGlass,

No doubt the PowerShot SX40HS is a great camera. I wanted that fast F2.7 lens, and the hot shoe on the SX70HS. I still like the SX70HS, and might get one, but at that price, the SX40HS/SX50HS (used) look more attractive to me.

Again, great images and keep up the beautiful work!
