Chiming in here...

Had the R since sept. Got the battery grip a couple of months ago.

I shoot almost always with wifi on with transfer to an iPad.

I use a pricier 128GB Extreme PRO UHS-II SDXC Memory Card. I also use the same type of card on a fuji x-t3 that I have.

I've had freezes, some needing just a reset, most needing a battery ejection.

They all happened with the fastest motor shuttle drive mode on. It appears to maybe an overheat issue

Since the sandisk allows for fast transfers, I think it allows the R to overheat.

Had it happen with both the battery grip on and off.

Recently I had it happen where I was shooting with a full speed motor shutter, wifi transfer and manual focus... its important to note that an AF system may have intermittently not shot a from to wait for focus. With manual focus, there is no wait, hence the likely-hood with an overheat.

This incident was the most damaging because I lost photos. Had it been an important event, I would have been toast.

First, was the buffer frame that counts back up as the card fills not counting it. it was continuously filling the buffer without writing to the card. the red light for the sd card was constant.  On the app, the autotranfer has a list of frames but they had an exclamation point next to them. I switch off the camera and it indicated "Saving: remaining images 26" but the count was going Down. I had no choice but to battery cycle the camera, losing those images, plus the event time I was doing this and not saying pix.

Since I have the identical card on the fuji, I may swap it out test it on the R. however all points to an overheat problem.

After a powering off the camera, I get this screen.

After I powered off and then on again, i get this on the EVF. the lcd was blank.

..This unfortunately makes the camera not useful in mission critical event photography.
