Pixel 2 is 12.2MP, T6 is 18MP.

I would recommend that you search for the reviews on-line.  Also don't get a Canon Rebel without sensor dust protection like the Canon T6 (that would be my recommendation).  Look for something like the Canon T6s, T6i, T7i or SL2 etc.  With these cameras there's so many different features and reasons to choose one over another.  The reviews would narrow it down for you a little.  Consider the type and cost of lenses also.

The Canon Rebel has more "resolution".  But resolution isn't everything.  The Canon can use dozens of different lenses for varying subjects.  And the Canon has ergonomics years ahead of the phone.

But maybe you just want a phone with a camera in it.

There's more to realized resolution than pixel count. Often camera phones record more pixels than actual resolution. Meaning a 12 mp camera phone might have the same detail recorded as a 6 mp dslr. Plus the lens and aperture of the lens used of the lens used on the dslr matters.
