I often do that cross eyed method when viewing two photos side by side.

Yup, that I can do. But it doesn't help with the odd stereo card you might come across, unless you're willing to cut it in half and re-arrange it! ;^J

But after 30 years of trying, I still can't free view.

Hi Bill in your text you started saying that you can free view and in the last part of your text you say you can't free view. Both statements can't be correct. Unless you mean you can cross-eye but can't get the stereo effect to work.

VR "demo"

I see.  Yes it is not so easy to find demos of "real VR".   In the absence of a demo, here's a video that I made to try to explain what VR is like:

Re: samsung cover

Hi Bill in your text you started saying that you can free view...

Sometimes my fingers are faster than my brain.  Not that it really matters -- but I cannot master free viewing, but cross-eye is easy for me and I can certainly see the 3D.  A knock against cross-eye for me is that I get a miniaturization effect.  My guess is that my brain thinks that since I am crossing my eyes, what I am looking at must be close, so the real life objects in the image must be miniatures to be that close and that small.

Thanks for the video clip creaDVty. A good way to demonstrate VR headsets.

I don't remember you demonstrating th cardboard headset, maybe I missed this in your video.

Thank you very much Brian. The cardboard vr headset is the one i showed at around 05:16. I didnt do a screen recording because the artifacts and weaknesses of google cardboard, such as judder or the blur when moving your head cannot be screen recorded.

Best regards,

Mic

Hi Bill.

I thought free viewing was the cross eyed method where you don't need any device to see 3D. Maybe you mean something else by free viewing.
