Welcome all to the Sunday Cat thread, brought to you every week, except for a brief interruption in September, 2016, since Anton AK first started the thread on 23rd September, 2007. Management of the thread over the years has been turned over successively to John King, Warriormouse, Robert J, Coldamus, Robert J (with an assist by StanTsui ) and since September 2016, long time lurker, me.

Streetwise Kitty of the Week!

Jeny, whose collar tells us of a human friend. :-)

As said by Warriormouse, "Photos can be more than just art, they can be memories, so come share your picture and stories of your feline companions with us. Come one, come all; all cats and cameras welcome. Add your favourite cat shot to the collection. No time limits, taken any time, any place, any camera."

Posting time for the thread is every Sunday at 0000 UTC. Because this is Saturday afternoon for me, I may sometimes start the thread earlier, later, or even on time (!) to accommodate my schedule. If I am late, feel free to grab the reins and start the next thread. A PM letting me know that you have would be appreciated.

Last week's purrs, #587

Thanks everyone for once again making it hard to chose just one image to feature! There were so many this past week I couldn't keep up. I hope to do better in the coming week. :-)

Though small in size, the imprint they make on our lives is huge.

I haven't attended a cat show in a long time but had the opportunity to go to one Saturday. While there I noticed this Ocicat Show within the show! :-D

Why did they put it there? I can't read it!

Only two of my cats managed to complete the #10YearChallenge. :-(

Allie's got the right idea for this time of year. Mini-Me spent some quality time in the sunshine today too, although there wasn't very much of it. Kraken seems to be showing off some shadow stripes in his black fur. Many black cats have them, but they're not always apparent, rather like Blaze's spots were unknown to me before last week. :-)

Those are remarkable photos. It shows that our kitties do age, but not as noticeably as we do. I don't think I can find such pairings among my images of my kitties. My very first one lived until she was almost 21, but none since has lived as long.

Nice teeth there Jasper! ;-) Leo however seems to be saying, "you're not going to get me in a silly pose like that!" I like the B&W treatment of Leo's portrait. The high contrast really brings out his classic tabby markings. :-)

Thank you for your kind words. Yes, our Jasper and Leo are both very sweet, and very dear to us.

Your Yumos is a handsome gentleman. He has beautiful eyes.

Yumos is a handsome boy! Beautifully captured.

My parents had a Maine Coon type cat (a stray who adopted us) and 2 Abyssinians. A aunt then gave us 2 Persian kittens. It was fun watching them growing up and attempt to mimic the extremely athletic Aby boys. Somehow I became responsible for keeping the Persians groomed. Fortunately they seemed to enjoy their grooming sessions. They even tolerated their monthly baths with minimal protests.

Yumos is one handsome guy! I really like the silvery markings on the light colored background of fur. It just invites you to pet him and enjoy the softness of his coat. :)

It looks like Kraken has a few things to say about this photography business! Blaze seems to be flaunting her tabbiness this week giving us a good look at the stripes on her face. She's an attractive kitty. :)

I have to admit that imagining the Persians trying to imitate the antics of the Abys has been amusing me all week. :D
Yeah, there were lots of hilarious fails. The Abys could easily clear the entire length of the coffee table. The Persian kittens would try to follow the Abys and make it about 1/4 of the way across the table, slide the rest of the way and crash to floor with all objects they collected. They provided lots of entertainment.

It took a while for them to learn their physical limitations. They remained playful and sometimes used teamwork to outsmart the Abys. If a mouse made it into the house, the odds were it was the Persians that caught it. Hardly the sophisticated staid couch potato balls of fluff I thought they would be.
