Aquatech housing pistol grip rarely firing

Hi everyone,

I've just entered the world of surf photography and purchased the elite Aquatech housing for my canon 6d. I was disappointed to find out that for some reason the pistol trigger only fires sometimes when partially or fully submerged underwater (fires fine when above water). What's also strange is that when it does fire, it only does with my 70-200mm and not my 50mm. Also, when I try to a get a shot through the peak of a wave as its about it crash, it never fires. It's almost as if the pressure of the water/wave affects the trigger from going off. I'm quite certain that I am assembling everything correctly as there's not much to it so I'm just very confused and frustrated at this point not being able to explore its full potential. I've already spoken to Aquatech over the phone trying to explain this to the best of my ability, but they said they don't understand why it wouldn't be working consistently underwater or even partially submerged and that I should send it back in to see if the cable is faulty. Trouble is that I live in Trinidad and Tobago so sending it back in and having it shipped back here will be extremely pricey. I'm hoping to get some answers  on here before I resort to sending it in.

Any input at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Aquatech housing pistol grip rarely firing

Before you send the switch back to AquaTech we can further suggest the following,

Sounds potentially like a focus issue with your camera/lens. Can we suggest you try different release priority settings on your camera? From what you are describing the shots you are trying to take can be hard to nail focus. If your priority is on focus and not release, and with a slower lens/camera combo, then the pistol will not fire.
