M6 + EF-M 55-200mm at concert

I love the M cameras, especially the smaller ones (in my case the M3 first, now M6) for their "concert-ability": In most cases they can go in to concerts without much fuss. Especially with the (relatively small and mostly plastic) 55-200.

Here are some photos from ZZ Top ("That Little Ol' Band From Texas") concert at the City National Civic in San Jose. Was at the balcony but the 55-200 helped reach out. The menu is also relatively small, which helped.

The first and last photos are with the iPhone, since I was lacking wide-angle.

They're on!  iPhone image from my seat

As much choreography as you'll get from these guys. It's great

Billy Gibbons.

Dusty Hill on bass.

Frank Bread, the drummer, was heads-down the whole concert. Didn't see his face much.

One of the wider shots with the 55-200.

Another iPhone pic, of the venue.

Nice photos, but I also were interested in the music

Thanks. I did not do video!

For the record, the music was great. I love their raw sound and guitar skills.

Any shows around here ban any ilc camera.

My thinking is, treat the camera as a glorified P&S, and don't violate the spirit of the ban: Don't take videos, don't bring in a tripod, don't block anyone's view with a bulky camera/lens combo, and don't take photos for commercial purposes. Oh, and enjoy the concert too!

It's either first front rows with a decent camera phone, or sit far away and use a long but small zoom lens on a decent camera. I prefer the latter, and the M6 does the job. I usually also bring a well-endowed (24-720mm) P&S as well, as backup. I much prefer the M6 as a way to handle the challenging lighting, and ability to shoot raw.
