Am I expected to spoonfeed?

All is readily clear by going:

1) To Canon's support site eg

https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/cameras/digital_slr/eos_700d.aspx?type=software&language=&os=Windows%2010%20(32-bit)

You are correct:

ImageBrowser EX

Please note that ImageBrowser EX has now replaced ZoomBrowser EX and ImageBrowser.

Which hardly invalidates my suggestion to the OP

2) https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/learn/education/topics/article/2018/august/digital-photo-professional-dpp-4-tutorial-videos/digital-photo-professional-dpp-4-tutorial-videos

Canon's website is a wealth of information, help and advice.  3rd party stuff is available but I prefer to recommend official resources.

If the OP had installed the Canon suite he would have had his camera downloads sorted with either ImageBrowser or EOS Utility and would be streamlining his use of DPP including DLO.

This should be directed to the OP (who's since disappeared).  Benji was also just trying to be helpful.

The OP was here yesterday reporting some success with DPP and wondering where to go.  I responded here partly because it appeared appropriate and partly because the OP doesn't seem to be reading my posts.

I agree Benji was only trying to clarfiy things.

All very good points.

Thanks, hope they don't go to waste.

Thanks for the update.  I had asked questions of the OP too and hadn't heard back.  Good that he/she is working on it.

I couldn't tell for sure what the OP had asked in their last post, and wanted to make sure they weren't rating and editing directly to the card, as all flash memory has only a finite number of read/write cycles (wouldn't want to push it).

I like DPP for vetting and rating my images.  It's very quick and easy.

Re: help uploading on old computer

gotchya,

i have been using dpp to do it so far. whenever i put some of my pictures on google pics to share with people though it shows a lot of info about the photo. (file name, camera, lense, etc) maybe just settings i need to change within google?

I heard somewhere in one the videos or threads i have read about using a photo downloader to curate all your photos and save them neatly organized directly from the card to the computer.. maybe i misunderstood or this is unnecessary?

Re: help uploading on old computer

Don't worry about this. Happened to me too. At this point, I believe that I will try to find a good file/photo organizer for you and maybe a good book to get you on track with this somewhat complicated process.

Photography is one thing, knowing computers is another. Problem these days is that you need a computer to manage your photos (with the Internet in between).

Let me think of something and I will get back to you tomorrow. Been helping computer users all my life and I happen to love photography as well.

Re: help uploading on old computer

There is although I have to admit that windows 7 will be “end of life “ in one year. Not that it will stop working but that some software may not work with it anymore, but that will take a while.

Re: help uploading on old computer

As I promised, I will try to find you a good file/photo organizer and a good editing software. First question: do you have a budget for that or it has to be completely free?
