I just bought a 56mm Sigma F1.4 MFT.
20

Based on the write-ups it's got.
It's phenomenal. It's really sharp, edge to edge, wide open. As it stops down it looks the exact same. Whether it's that sharp edge to edge in APS-C, I can't say, but I suspect it is.

Re: I just bought a 56mm Sigma F1.4 MFT.

Thanks for sharing the photos.

Sharp! The bokeh rendering looks very smooth and pleasant.

Could you shoot a few more against backgrounds that are typically very ‘busy’/‘nervous’, (eg foliage in bright light and another with lots of thin branches)?

My Olympus 45mm f1.8 renders some backgrounds in a very ‘busy’ way.

Much appreciated if yes in advance!

Looks like it will be a cracking portrait lens it has been garnering some good reviews , though so far I have only seen the Sony APS reviews

There are 32 images after this, most just unfocussed backgrounds at full aperture. It'll give you a good idea of bokeh.

Great! Thanks for sharing those. That's my next lens, for sure. I just can't seem to find it in Belgium, it's not available yet ☹️

Could you please do some shots against the light, too?

The sample shots here on dpreview against the light or with the sun/light source in the corner were rather underwhelming.

Not just that rainbow streak, also lots of flare and loss of contrast ...

Looks very promising, it seems to offer better Boken than the 45 1.8 I used to own, and even the 1.2, a great addition to the system. i really like the newer generation Sigma lens, while the sharpness remains, gone is those ugly background rendering.

my 75mm 1.8

I love my 75mm 1.8 and it is rumored to be a Sigma designed lens. The lens you have here is looking like another winner. Very smooth out of focus areas and sharp.

Could you please post some portrait shots wide open with the Sigma and the Oly 45 1.8 for comparison? Thanks!
