Z6 w/Sigma 105mm 1.4 Art Mounted
11

Just picked up this beautiful Sigma 105mm Art, love it! Very sharp wide-open, and no calibration/fine tuning needed. Of course it's the "Bokeh Master". Only taken couple of pics, will post some after it's workout.

Love the Z6 as well, I was very skeptical, but made the move from D850. The D850 wasn't for me, I'm probably one of the very few, that wasn't crazy about it. Not very interested in the Z lenses as of yet. I do want the "Noct"!

any update on this - how are you getting on with the 105 on the Z6, any issues or AF problems in low light?  Do you have any shots you could share?

I like whatever works for the job (small or substantial). I'll be adding a couple "s" lenses, when the pro series is available.

The 105, I'd be using with a tripod for mainly models, so the size isn't an issue.

Plus, this lens is esthetically beautiful.

Thanks

I've just begun using the Z6 as 2nd body to D5. Haven't used the 105 much yet. I did do a portrait test with it, I'll post some this evening.,

I'm using the Z6 for events currently, getting used to it before covering talent/models, this is where I'd use the 105.

If it helps, overall I haven't had any issues with FTZ focusing, no fine tuning needed at all. Wish I could say the same for D5.

Haven't reached the point where I'm completely satisfied with the Z6 files, may be how Lightroom renders. Will be testing with Capture One this week.

Thanks

Any more updates about this combo? I currently have Z7+kit lens and thinking about picking up this lens and would love to see some examples from it.

I love my 105VR f/2.8 and 85mm f/1.4D. The 85mm doesn't work (except manual) on the Z-mount. I've got to get something to replace that.

Any photos with the lens?

FWIW, the 85mm f1.8G works very well on the Z, from f1.8 onwards with pin sharp results. Focus accuracy is  noticeably better on the Z than on my previous D750 at wide apertures.

Tried this on my D7200 at the NEC photo show. I was amazed at how well balanced it was and how well it handled. Not really a street lens though I didn’t think.

Welcome, you may not be interested in the current lens lineup, but I think you should take a look at the Z 50mm f1.8. I've seen some pretty good stuff. I had given up on the 50 years ago, but after seeing some of the results with this lens, it has rekindled my interest in the 50. ….. Just saying - keep an open mind.

Ahhh that's awesome. I have a full swag of Nikon pro glass but the 105 has quickly become my favourite lens. OMG it's special. Mine needed no fine tuning either - something not the case with my other 3 Art lenses which needed lots. Definitely want the Z6. The shutter noise from my other cameras is an issue for the stage and concert photography I do. Here's a straight from camera shot taken with a Nikon D810 and Sigma Art 105 from last night. Just the stage lights (no flash allowed during a performance).

Re: Z6 w/Sigma 105mm 1.4 Art Mounted

Nikon has a 105 1.4 as well. It is smaller and lighter. It is reviewed as one of the best Nikon makes. Besides cost, is there any reason to prefer the Sigma?
