Is my Canon 24-105 IS STM damaged?

Please help me. Ten days ago my Canon 24-105 IS STM has very bad photos in which it is light. Whether it was damaged or something bad happened. How can I fix this? You can see the pictures.

I thank you very much!

I think the light is leaking, but this has not happened before.

Please help me.

why would you hold your camera directly to a light bulb...just amazing what some people do to their cameras! your camera/lens could have an issue but these 2 shots you have posted don't say anything. if it was me, i'd go out and take a shot of something that is available (a tree or a hose or something) and see how your camera behaves! i am sure no one has answered your post because it looks like a troll post!!!!!

There were no leaks on the previous photos on the left and right sides of the light. However, now it happens that when I photograph the light, there is always a leak on one side. I'll insert pictures before and after.

Before

After

I'm not kidding, I'm very worried ...

I'll add more pictures before I've damaged it.

In these pictures, the light does not leak like the one on top. And I do not know why this is happening and whether the damage is huge or not?

It is amazing how some people will respond to a genuine question

I suspect that you have some grease or a scratch on an outer surface. Did you inspect the lens surfaces to see if this is the case? Or try to take image OF the lens, so we can see how the surfaces look like.

  1. Are the front and back elements of the lens perfectly clean, free of fingerprints and oils?
  2. Did you use any type of filters like UV protection etc?
  3. Did you go to e.g. Flickr and research this lens for pictures taken into bright light sources and do they eventually exhibit rth same phenomena?
  4. Is your sensor clean which I don't think is the issue but better ask?

The odd flare also appears to be related to the aperture being stopped down.  Maybe the aperture blades are sticking or damaged.  Inspect by setting small aperture f/8-16, press/hold DOF Preview button and look in the front of the lens.

You were right! There was a bit of fat on the part of the lens that was attached to the sensor. And it did such a bad picture. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!

Glad you found the root cause and were able to fix it!

I am always super careful never to touch the back side of my lenses when changing them. Finger prints are most typical to cause flare issues and more so on the back element than in the front.
