I’ve the original SD card with photos on it still. Can you help with the process please?

As far as I know, if the photos on the SD card are JPEG (and you shot in monochrome), the color information will have been lost. If the files are RAW, then the color information will still be there and you can use the camera's (or other) editing software that came with your camera and do what you please with it.

As mentioned by the others, if you shot jpegs then you are SOL.

If you shot RAW, then open them in Canon's free DPP software (or your RAW converter of choice), and change the "Picture Style" to whatever you like. I like "Standard" myself.

Shooting RAW has many advantages. For one, when I'm shooting B/W, I really like setting the camera to B/W. IMHO it really helps one to visualize what the image will look like in monochrome. You actually "see" differently. And with RAW, you can always go back to the original color if you want.

Best of luck!
