SX620: Auto v. P modes?

It seems that there is no difference between P mode with all the defaults and Auto mode on the SX620.  Am I missing something?

I'll certainly defer to the camera's manual - which you should read carefully - and to anyone who owns your model camera. But typically while Auto automates nearly everything except flash use, P Mode lets you

. select ISO (and then adusts Av and Tv accordingly)

. access Exposure Compensation

. access the Func/Set Menu, depending on model a rich set of choices

each covered in the manual.  I've found asking "What would Auto do?" is a good practical, if not spiritual, place to start with a new camera, using the detailed playback display to decide if it got the shot right.
