What to look for when buying an extension tube?

Hey I'm looking to get an extension tube for my Rebel T3... I have 18x55 kit and 55x250stm lenses only..

What specs to look for in an extension tube and can it be used with both lenses?

Thanks in advance...

Just make sure they're “auto,” and have the electronic pass-through contacts.

And compatibility with EF-S lenses

And compatibility with EF-S lenses.  Older model extension tubes (Canon's own and third party) have hard plastic internal baffles that interfere with the extended rear mount of EF-S lenses.

For example, Canon's original Extension Tubes EF 12 and EF 25 cannot mount to EF-S lenses, but the current model EF 12 II and EF 25 II can.

Thanks.  I was assuming 3rd party.
