Minolta X-700 eyecup

I recently purchased a working model of a Minolta X-700, having not liked the shutter shake from a Yashica FX2000.

Everything is working on it, and really love using it, but as I am new to film cameras I'm still getting used to the focusing. One thing that does not help is that my camera is missing an eyecup.

Are there any other eyecups that will fit? Any model number?

That camera series was not normally supplied with an eyecup.

The only official (optional) eyecup I know of from Minolta was the Eyepiece Hood EH-7.

Several eyecups designed for the later Minolta/Sony AF A-mount cameras will also work. The FDA-EP12 that shipped with my A77 is one example:

There must be several third-party options that will also do the job.

Re: Minolta X-700 eyecup

The eyecup I tend to use on my X700 & X500 are ones that I think were intended for the Dynax 7000i or 5000i .

Some eyecups are a bit too tall and jut up above the hot shoe and tend to snag in the camera bag , as well as being in the way if your using flash .

Most A mount camera eye cups also go below the viewfinder a bit preventing the back from opening , though this is hardly an issue .

Thanks for the information! I did search online, and the Minolta EH-7 was probably the most official one. I tried an eyecup from a Canon DSLR, and whilst it fit, it sat slightly too high up so I couldn't comfortably see the bottom of the viewfinder.

I popped into a local vintage camera shop earlier, and the shop owner gave me an Asahi Pentax one like this one:

Fits perfectly, I preferred the round ones as they're more comfortable for me. The only downside is I have to remove it before opening the film chamber as the bottom of the circular eyecup would block the door from opening.

Re: Minolta X-700 eyecup

Im new to the X-700 and very recently purchased one from the original owner and it's a beauty. I shot with a Pentax ME Super and a Canon A1 in the 70's forward. I'm impressed with the build quality and the ergonomics are excellent. condition.

I realize it's an older thread, but I have an extra Minolta EH-7 eyecup, which is for the X-700. It's in mint condition, so let me know if you're interested.
