Just Ordered a NX Mini on eBay.

Brand new, never used. It had good (not great) ratings so I made the deal. It came with the 9mm lens and I ordered the 9-27 zoom and the 17mm F1.8. I've been using a Panasonic GM1 which is a very small camera but the DXO ratings gave the Mini a much higher rating.

It looks like a good camera for indoors where things are congested and a bigger camera would be awkward.

Are there any here still using the Mini? I am interested in any suggestions for getting the best from this camera.

I have NX mini with 9-27, but I'm not using it much. The image quality is quite good, I'm surprised by the sharpness of the kit lens.

17 1.8 is quite interesting for me, could you share more impressions about it? I think that would be a great compact street - the same FOV as NX with 30 2.0 + OIS (and maybe faster focusing?).

Ordered all of the seperate parts, arriving daily

I ordered not only the camera with the 9mm lens and two other lenses but a leather case, automatic lens cap for the zoom lens, wall charger and two extra batteries. I will post photos and comments maybe next week. As of today the camera is at the USPS regional facility in Rochester, NY (I live on the west coast). The F1.8 lens is coming from Korea and has not shipped yet. I can start using the camera as soon as it arrives.

I saw those 17 1.8 from S. Korea, but I'm not sure that I want to spend 250$ more for a NX-M lens. Especially without quite good info about it.

Re: Just Ordered a NX Mini on eBay.

Yes i still use the mini, its the only cam i use except the one in my phone.. 😏

I just took this pic a few hours ago

My advice is that you shoot raw instead of jpeg (wish i did) because otherwise the jpeg engine in this camera can do some weird things when you underexpose, i show you what:

Notice the greenish thing left bottom and top right..

..yup nasty 🙄

Also i'd try to avoid shooting with the sun at certain angles, at least with the 9mm lens (the only i have) sun flare is not pleasant at all

Believe me flare can be much worse than this example..

Btw remember that with the 9mm you only have e-shutter, that ball in the air is supposed to be perfectly round! 😁

That said i love this little camera, find it awesome for street you can for ex set a min shutter speed and just let the iso fly, or use manual focus and take advantage of its huge dof even with the lens wide open.

First Photos With NX Mini

Got the camera today. Box was unopened, sealed. Charged up the battery and went through the menu settings and this is what I came up with. I'll take some tomorrow as we are going out for Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends at the McChord AFB Officers Club. They put on a good buffet.

My favorite model. He has a scratch on his nose from a fight with something outside.

Just looking around me for something to practice on.

Oh oh, getting low in Cheetos . . . again.

Congrats on your new camera, hope you enjoy it! 🙃

Photos looking good and clean, guess lens stabilization works well on the zoom..

Cute cat you have, i also took a pic of one of mine when she was still a baby..

Have a nice thanksgiving.

I was wondering what you had on your thumb, then you made the Cheetos bag comment and photo gave me the answer:)

Re: Just Ordered a NX Mini on eBay.

Hi! I am beginner owner of Nx Mini too.

Nice hardware, nice BSI sensor Sony IMX183c, but there are many stupid limitation of software.

1)No work without lens. Yes, i can connect 2 and 11 pin at bayonet, but it is dufficult for realisation.

2)Noise reduction at raw mode.

3)No interval shooter at camera. It is possible to connect usb interval shooter for samsung with lcd screen.

4)rare adapters.

Anybody know how to enter to the service menu? I try to find service manual for it.

A Few Photos With The Zoom Lens
1

I do have the F1.8 lens on order and it would have been better for this kind of photography but I used what I had.

All three of the NX lenses allow very close focusing. The zoom lens can focus as close as 5.51". The 9mm 4.3" and the 17mm F1.8 7.09".

I have NX mini. I sold my NX500 setup with all the lenses (7), except 50-200, but kept NX Mini, which I'll use on a Mini with adapter. Also ordered 17/1.8 from Korea for $169. Got Mini for $210 with a kit zoom for $200 few years ago. I's a pretty good quality camera to complement my Pentax Q7, Canon G9X mkII, and Nikon Coolpix A setup. Also thinking about replacing Coolpix A with Fuji XF10.

I use mine with the 9mm and do daylight time lapses. Beautiful on a 4k tv.

Well if you do replace your \\\\\\\\\\\\\\coolpix A with the XF10 I for one would like to see how you get on. The Fuji XF10 to me looks like a better camera for street at least. I have the optical VF for my Coolpix A - I wonder if it'd fit the XF10?

I guess I'm just waiting on more reviews of the XF10 before committing.

XF10 doesn't have shoe mount, so you can't mount OVF. The prices on Ricoh GR II also went down, so that's an alternative route. I don't like the spec of GR III (no built-in flash).

That's one con for sure..

I would not consider the GR II a step up mainly because of its sensor. The better sensor is a major draw for me - more scope for cropping etc.

The GR III is a maybe, gotta wait on reviews.

I have nx mini with 9mm and 9-27mm zoom. Must admit it's stuck in a drawer since I bought it! Owned it previously with a view to seeing how good it was for street shooting. Found flare to be terrible when shooting into the sun - so bad many shots were beyond recovery. Bear in mind I was shooting blind from the chest so could do little to mitigate flare. If using the tilt screen you'd get on better. Under controlled conditions it could take some very nice shots. Which is why I bought it again with a view to using it exclusively on fishing trips. I never managed to go fishing last year due to commitments at home, namely a diy bathroom refit that is taking forever!

Next year fishing comes first so I'll get some use out of the nx mini.

Re: Cold Spell Preventing Me From Testing The Mini

Has anyone experimented with 1"(16mm) C mount lenses?

I have had ok results although it's a bit disappointing you can't use flash with manual lenses....Nikon 1 camera at least allows for the flash to go off in manual.
