Flash gun puzzle Oly v Pana

Some months back I sold all my E-volt kit and for some reason included my Oly FL36 flash.

I never used it on my Panasonic G2 / G7 so have no idea whether it would function correctly.

As far as I can tell from reading assorted threads, the Oly FL36 and the Pana 360 are the same. So, please can anyone confirm (or deny) that the Oly FL36 will provide full TTL on a Panasonic m43 body?

I know it's old technology but it's only used inside churches or similar and not that often.

Thank you.

My FL-36R is fully* functional on my GX8, so the FL-36 should also work.
(*Only the red focus assistant light doesn't work.)

In a similar but more confused vein, I used to use  same vintage Olympus FL-50 (not the R type) on Panasonic LX3 for a top heavy but useful TTL performance. Also used FL-36R and FL-300R on LX3.

Basically any reasonably modern (last maybe 10 years?) Panasonic/Olympus/Leica camera with a hot-shoe can play TTL nicely with any flash that is deemed "Olympus/Panasonic/Leica/Micro Four Thirds/Four Thirds" compatible.

Regards..... Guy

The TTL features still work. The camera won't access the flash's AF illuminator and I believe Panny won't support Oly's multi-flash system.

Still a viable flash.

Cheers,

Rick

Panasonic does support multi flash RC control.

There is a slight difference between Olympus and Panasonic, and so Quantum and Pocketwizard support Panasonic but not Olympus.

Thank you.

The accessories compatibility pages for both cameras show support for FL-36 (go down the the "External Flash" section):
