The depth-of-field differences between f/1.8 and f/2 (less that half a stop) at these focal lengths is likely to be un-noticeable except, possibly, at very close range. Depending on which Samsung body you are using, the 24megapixel Sony is likely to get the absolute best out of the Sigma lens and, to my mind, this might be a deciding factor, unless I absolutely needed the extra few degrees of field-of-view.

They're both amazing lenses. I own the samsung and love it, but have worked with the sigma a few times in the past.

Obviously the samsung is NX Mount only, so it can not be adapted to other mounts, where as the Sigma can be.

There shouldn't be a huge difference in DOF, although I don't have my camera in front of me, so I forget when the Samsung starts to drop off in terms of Aperture. I believe it's 2.8 by 35mm, but am not certain offhand.

The working differences is that the samsung zooms in a lot more. It's a 3x zoom where as the sigma is a 2x.

The samsung also has OIS which is awesome

They're both a 72mm front filter thread.

The sigma's listed weight is 1.78 lb / 811 g

The samsung's listed at 1.32 lb / .6 kg

I believe the NX is equal or better in every aspect.

For me, the difference between 18/16mm is huge, and a deal breaker. 18X1.5 vs 16X1.5 (1.54X in NX, 1.6X in Canon APS-C) is 24 vs 28mm. nX is like having 24/28/32mm 2f, and goes up to 77mm, good enough for short portraits and small to bigger groups of people.

The in-lens Image Stabilization is very important for video also.

For me the 16-50 is the better joice. I owned the Sigma and used it on a 7D. AF was only 80% correct.  A friend use the Sigma with Nikon7100 and he is happy.

Dof will not be a big diffdrence on both lenses.

For portrait both are a little short.
