DYI Digital Harinezumi 4.0 Effects?

I'm interested in exploring lo tech equipment, vintage lenses, software, whatever-that creates its own "look". I've come across this Chinon Digital Harinezumi 4.0 that has a bunch of cool filters, multiple exposure that produces one could say a 1960's aesthetic that reminds one of super 8 "art films", cheap low end film point and shoots.

This product is discontinued (as well as a very interesting ILC "super 8" digital video camera that can take old Bolex lenses and such.

They're achieving these images with plastic "toy" 3MP cameras. It would seem like there should be ways to achieve these type of images by manipulating high end cameras and with software. However, I haven't a clue how to begin.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Laurence
